Botox

Botox is a neurotoxin protein that is used for cosmetic facial rejuvenation treatments. It is an FDA approved injectable that can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Botox works by blocking certain chemical signals from nerves that cause muscles to contract. When the muscles stop contracting, the wrinkles stop forming. Botox, while temporary, is effective at relaxing facial muscles that cause horizontal forehead lines, vertical frown lines, and those wrinkles around the eyes known as crows-feet.

There is no downtime when receiving Botox and results begin to appear within 3-10 days and can last anywhere from 3-5 months (could be more or less). Duration of results are based on many factors such as the type of Botox received and the wrinkles that are being treated as well as how your body metabolizes and responds to the Botox.

Botox provides a quick remedy for the facial lines and wrinkles that age, stress, worry, and environmental factors can produce on a person’s face.

Botox injections are gently injected into the targeted areas and while it can cause amazing, significant results, these results do not look “fake” or make you look like you have had cosmetic work done.

As we age and are exposed to environmental factors such as UV rays, our skin changes, begins to lose elasticity and wrinkles begin to form. While Botox can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles, it is temporary; so the early use of skin care products and daily use of SPF can play a significant role in helping your skin stay strong and reduce some of the signs of aging.

Botox can be used to treat the following types of wrinkles:

  • Crows Feet near the eyes

  • “Jelly Rolls” under the eyes

  • Forehead lines

  • Frown lines or “Eleven Lines” between the eyebrows

  • Smoker’s lines around the mouth

  • Other areas on the face that are of concern that are able to be treated with Botox can be discussed further
